Worst Portrait Experience Ever

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My experience with the portrait studio at Tempe Marketplace has been the WORST. At a Mall Event, the studio had a prize wheel, which included the Portrait Perks Membership Card. I won. I was told she was out of them and she took my name and email address and would email me the info. After several weeks, I called to follow up. NO ONE would return my calls. I left messages on voice mail and messages with a warm body that answered the phone. After contacting JCPenny Corporate, and Life Touch Photography, I FINALLY got a return call. I scheduled an appointment for my 19 month old. There was only ONE person in the studio- the "photographer". She was very unskilled. She sat about waiting for an active toddler to pose. She missed several shots because her camera wasn't ready and she wasn't in position. After nearly an hour, we gave up and rescheduled. I called and asked for a different photographer. That session went much better, as she was skilled and experienced in working with toddlers. Again, I was told that the membership perks card would be in the envelope with the portraits at pick-up. A few weeks later, I run it to the store figuring I would just pick them up and go, leaving the family out waiting in the car, including a busy now 20 month old. There is NO ONE in the studio. The inept photographer from the first session was taking photos and NEVER acknowledged my presence. After the photo session was done, they walked out of the room to the waiting area. It took another 5 minutes and me speaking out that I was waiting. A few more minutes pass by, and she finally comes out photo area, now there are two more customers lined up behind me, and the photo session people waiting to see their pictures. She pulls my envelope and starts the up sell spiel, and I ask about the membership card. Nope. Not there. She gets on the phone and speaks to someone, another 5 minutes goes by. While she is on the phone, I look at the prints. They cut off the top of her head and her shoes in the picture, and it was blurry. A high school photography class could do a better job. She never apologized, and never said a word. Absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE skills to go with her lack of photography skills. After 30 minutes, I leave without the membership card and with *** photo prints with a promise that new ones will be in store in 10 days. I really dread going back into that store to pick them up.

Didn't centre images on purpose in order to upsell us enhancements

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have been going to JC penny portrait studios to get milestone pictures of all 4 of my children, ages 1-9, for the past 9 years. The last few times we have gone we have not been happy with the quality/ professionalism of the pictures. The most recent time being being November 2018. We had planned to purchase all the digital images, however, only a handful of them were acceptable. The lack of attention to detail by the photographer was so disappointing and the fact that they purposefully did not center most of the images, in anticipation of trying to upsell us enhancements to the pictures is unacceptable. When I asked why the images were not centered, and if they could centre them properly I was told that in order for them to do that that would be considered an enhancement and thus an additional fee. Never have I ever purchased portraits before that were intentionally not centered by the photographer, or intentionally changed to make them off center in order to upsell to the consumer. Additionally, It was also confirmed that the 149.99 is never the usual price, but just written like that in order to deceitfully lead the consumer to believe that they have saved $50 dollars by price marking the flyers to $99 dollars in order to reflect a discount. This experience has really impacted my view on jc penny portraits has been enough for my family to chose to go elsewhere for our portrait sessions from now on.

Horrible Portrait Experience

I am highly disappointed with our recent portrait experience at Park Meadows! First, we booked our appointment at 10:45 am on 11/24 and no where on your website or email to confirm the appointment mentioned that this was actually a "check-in" time. It wasn’t until we arrived and were advised by the portrait staff it would be 45 minutes or so before our pictures would be taken because that was just a check-in time and not appointment time. Everywhere on you website and email refers to this as an APPOINTMENT time. We specifically selected this time so that we could have our pictures taken with a happy toddler and then be home to put our child to bed at his normal nap time. After we waited the initial 45 minutes, I checked to see how much longer and they advised at least another 20 minutes; actually turned into another hour before we began to take photos. We take professional pictures as a family once a year and this experience starts much earlier than just arriving at your studio! Ensuring everyone is dressed appropriately, hair done, no food on clothes, arriving at the studio trying to avoid melt downs as we pass all the toys strategically placed outside of the studio is quite an accomplishment. What we ended up getting was having to spend money we didn't plan to on mall food, a messy and an incredibly restless toddler, rushed through the portrait session (we only got one background), maybe 2 or 3 decent photos, and then got to wait another 15 minutes for the portrait consultant to create 38 different collages and effects that I advised we didn't want from the beginning. The portrait staff advised that because it was a Saturday, double booked, and dealing with uncooperative children, sessions were lasting longer than usual. This is unacceptable! You only have so many appointments you can reasonably schedule in a day, why would you overbook? Perhaps the children would not be so uncooperative if they didn't have to wait 2 hours before actually getting their photos taken? If the time we scheduled as an appointment is truly a check-in time, explicitly state that to the consumer so that they are aware it may actually be 45 minutes to 2 hours before their photos are taken so one could prepare properly for basically a half day event! I want someone to reach out to me and address this horrible experience and provide appropriate compensation for several wasted hours due to your negligence in setting the appropriate expectations with your consumers.

Overpriced, unprofessional, unqualified

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Session started 10-15 min late. cost was extremely high. For 3 digital pictures. Young woman taking pictures is absolutely not a photographer. No props to speak of in studio. Real pitiful. At one point she gave a very attitudy response, and some time after taking first few shots, she ran off without as much as a word to me. Was informed I am finished and need to leave because she left work. WHAT???? We were not done. Other lady, not a photographer, never even appologiezed and could not give less of a darn what my experience was like. Location was Washington square Mall Tigard Oregon. Worst photography experience of my life. Am highly upset with treatment and ever minute and dollar wasted. I will make sure to share my experience. Unprofessional and far overpriced for poor setup, skill and customer care.

Overbooked

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We showed early to our appointment at the JCPenney at st Charles towne center, after seeing the overcrowded waiting area, we were told there were 3 customers ahead of us so they were a little behind. I checked back at 45min later, knowing we only had a window with a 3yr old and 3 month old, again was told there were 3 ahead of us. we were told they booked 63 appointments for that day. We did not get in until 1hr 30min passed our scheduled time with no compensation and barely an apology. Once we finally got in- the photographer obviously was stressed and tired with such a busy day and didn’t even take the time to try and make our 3month old smile. So so disappointed. The staff could have at least been honest about the delay so we could go get something to eat or otherwise keep the kids entertained while waiting well past our appointment. Won’t schedule again with JCPenney. Sad

Worst "portraits" ever taken.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
They overbooked appts. I had a Groupon but had planned on a budget of $300 to spend in addition. Portraits were shoddy angles/ views, rushed and the customer service was terrible. Little did the "photographer" who was also the "upsell" person aware they lost a family of 30 years worth of portraits and far into the future business as well as his commission. Cheaper to pay a local professional photographer and have real portraits with professional service.

Had two visit for pictures at jcpenny and each one has been horrible. The people that take the pictures are so unprofessional and act like your a problem and hurry you through and just take a few posses and half come out with eyes closed are they taken a picture of a your clothes and trying to sell you a 200 CD with maybe one good imaigne on it. It's a joke if I had the equipment o could take better pictures without feeling like I'm am bothering someone.

Poor Customer Service

JC Penney Portrait Studio at Main Place Mall in Santa is the absolute worst portrait studio. Cassandra is rude and does not care about customers or customer satisfaction.

The other photographers move like a snail and do not care about how many people are waiting to take pictures. Appointment times are not kept. Even though you make an appointment they are behind and all you do is wait. It's a least 1-1.5 hours after your appointment time to finally get into the studio to take pictures.

Once in the studio the photographers are poorly trained and very inexperienced. They show no emotion and really don't care if they are taking good pictures.

DO NOT GO HERE. Take pictures on your phone - they will come out better and it will save you the frustration of this horrible studio.

I don't understand why anyone messes with "portrait studios" in this day and age of cheap, simple, do it yourself photography which is often of very high quality and can be altered to your satisfaction. I remember angrily wasted hours (1950's-60's) as a child being dressed, posed, overheated, told to smile when I wanted to bite somebody and my mother carping about the proofs and repeating the entire process.

Yes, I can tell you how many people who aren't photographers know how to pose a tiny newborn the safe and correct way, how to keep a 2 yr old in place, how to make 10 kids all look and smile at the same time, all while understanding light, angles, and composition of a great picture...approximately 1 in 10. But ok.

Highly upset

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We made a appointment for 3:45pm for a family of 5, myself my husband and our 3 kids. We arrived around 3:25 I went to check in and was told we had 3 appointments ahead of us (mind you we are 15 mins before my appointment) the rep said it’ll be about 1 hr and 15 mins We will call you, okay so we walk around the mall 1 hr later we return and the rep says Oh we have about 2-3 people before you Mind you I was told that one hour ago.

I said we have a two year old in a schedule we understand things happened but really how is it that it’s still 3 people ahead of us. I kindly cancel without rescheduling during the whole process No one says sorry for the inconvenience The reps just says okay have a good day, highly disappointed with the service.
